Characteristic Crossing Points in Specific Heat Curves of Correlated Systems

چکیده
Attention is drawn to the observation that in many correlated systems (e.g. 3He, heavy fermion systems and Hubbard models) the specific heat curves, when plotted for different values of some thermodynamic variable (e.g. pressure, magnetic field, interaction), cross almost precisely at one or two characteristic temperatures. A quantitative explanation of this phenomenon, based on the temperature dependence of the associated generalized susceptibilities, is presented. PACS: 67.55.Cx, 71.27.+a,71.28.+d In 1959 Brewer et al. [1] noticed that the specific heat curves C(T, P ) of liquid He measured at different pressures P all intersect at a temperature T+ ≃ 0.16K, and that C(T, P ) increases with increasing pressure below T+. Greywall’s high-precision measurements of the specific heat at constant volume V provided striking evidence for the sharpness of the crossing point at T+ ≃ 160mK (see Fig. 1a) [2]. Stability Crossing Curves of Shifted Gamma-Distributed Delay Systems
Abstract. This paper characterizes the stability crossing curves of a class of linear systems with gamma-distributed delay with a gap. First, we describe the crossing set, i.e., the set of frequencies where the characteristic roots may cross the imaginary axis as the parameters change. Then, we describe the corresponding stability crossing curves, i.e., the set of parameters such that there is ...
متن کاملNearly universal crossing point of the specific heat curves of Hubbard models
A nearly universal feature of the specific heat curves C(T ,U) vs T for different U of a general class of Hubbard models is observed. That is, the value C1 of the specific heat curves at their high-temperature crossing point T1 is almost independent of lattice structure and spatial dimension d , with C1 /kB'0.34. This surprising feature is explained within second-order perturbation theory in U ...
متن کاملStability crossing surfaces for linear time-delay systems with three delays
In this paper, the stability of linear systems with time-delays is studied. The cases where the characteristic equations of the system include three delays are investigated. Using the geometrical relations in a normalized polynomial plane, a graphical method is presented to visualize the stability domains in the space of the time delays. In this space, the points at which the characteristic equ...

The Study of heat transfer augmentation in micro scale and electronic packaging systems are some of the paramount areas of the impending universe. In such systems the cooling of the heat sinks are generally achieved through the impingement of air jet. Assuming the air jet to be continues & incompressible fluid, the heat dissipation rate over the target surface seems to either uniform or well ch...
متن کاملEnergy Conservation Potential of the Heat Pipe Heat Exchangers: Experimental Study and Predictions
The energy conservation potential of the heat pipe based heat exchangers (HPHXs) was studied in this research. To this end, a typical climate chamber as the representative of an air conditioning system was established. The performance characteristic of a typical eight-row HPHX was obtained based on the one week operation (168 h) to determine the performance characteristic curves. The coil face ...
